Your BIG guide to Sutho’s BIG DAY!

Pictures: Philippe De Putter

Sutherland Hockey Club is very excited to host an afternoon of international hockey at Tradies Sylvania Hockey Park, our  home for more than 60 years.

The current men’s world champions, Belgium’s Red Lions, take on Australia A, while their women’s Red Panthers will line up against a NSW Institute of Sport team. We hope the opportunity to witness world-class hockey will draw a big crowd – and Sutho looks forward to hosting you, your family and friends.

We still need some volunteers to help out at this great event, especially those with a Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation. If you, or someone you know, can assist in any way, please register here

Now, to make things easier for everyone, including our neighbours, here’s everything you need to know about our plans for the afternoon…

BUSH FIRE RELIEF FUNDRAISING

Our club has invited the Salvation Army to the big event so we can help raise funds to support its efforts  to help those who’ve been affected by the bush fire crisis. Please make sure you bring along some cash to donate if you can.

SEATING

Please  bring along a picnic blanket/rug. Seating on the clubhouse balcony is reserved for invited guests and people with special mobility needs. About 100 plastic chairs will be available at the top of the hill for general use. If you use one, please replace it at the end of the games.

FIELD ACCESS

The playing field is off-limits to everyone (including Sutherland Hockey Club members) except players and officials – so please don’t bring your stick for a hit.

TOILETS

There are a limited number of toilets on the ground floor on the southern side of our clubhouse. Additional facilities will be available inside and just outside the fence. Please note: These facilities will be cleaned by volunteer club members, so please help us keep them clean. Also, remember that no alcohol can be taken outside our facility.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Our Clubhouse canteen, which is upstairs accessible via the stairs on the southern side of the building or via the grass “top field”, will be open for drinks and food purchases. Please note, coffee will only be sold in the canteen.

We will also have a BBQ and bar at the top of the hill selling hot food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Coffee will only be sold from the canteen. Cash and card will be accepted at both locations. If you, or someone you know has a Responsible Service of Alcohol accreditation and can help out with drinks sales on Tuesday, please register here.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: Our Club is licensed premises. This means alcohol MUST NOT  be brought to the games. If you bring alcohol  you will not be permitted to bring it in. Drinks may be purchased at the club’s outlets.

Alcohol-free zones: Alcohol can only be consumed on the hill on the western side of the field and in the Clubhouse. All other areas around the club and adjoining the field are  alcohol-free zones.

Additionally, all of the areas outside our field are designated  alcohol-free.
