Sutherland Hockey Club acknowledges the traditional owners, the Gweagal Clan of the Dharawal Nation. The Gweagal people were the first Indigenous Australians to have contact with Europeans on Australia's east coast, when James Cook landed at Kurnell on 29 April 1770.
