Minkey hockey, or mini-hockey, is a modified version of our game, specially adapted for younger, learning players. It is played on a smaller playing field.

Minkey is designed for children aged between 4 and 9 years. It provides a great, fun introduction to hockey for boys and girls.

Full details of our 2022 program are to come, but Sutho's Minkey program runs Friday afternoons from 4.30 pm to 6.00 pm in Terms 2 and 3.

Minkey introduces girls and boys to the basic skills and rules of hockey. Then they apply them in mini games. All  Minkey sessions are run by qualified Coaches.

It's all in an enjoyable, social atmosphere and played on the same synthetic turf where our top players compete.

The sessions are great preparation for Sutho's Summer Schools 6-a-side competition held in Term 4 each year, as well as for eventual participation in our junior team competitions in U11s.

The weekly minkey program is:

• A warm-up / stretching session
• A skills session, with players divided into groups depending on their age and ability
• Mini games, and
• A free end of season BBQ presentation for all players.

All children must have shin pads and mouthguards. Hockey sticks and gear can be provided.

Many players in our junior and men’s and women's teams graduated from our Minkey and Summer Competition programs.
