Success for Sutho Boys @ State Champs

At the recent U17 Boys State Championships at Newcastle; Sutherland again showed the strength of it’s Junior boys. With 12 representatives at the State Championships including 10 for Sydney, 1 for Tamworth and 1 for Illawarra. The Sutherland Boys played a critical role in several matches across the three Sydney teams; with the Sydney 1′s losing their Semi-Final 1-0 in an extremely tense match and the Sydney 3′s winning their Division and being named State Champions. Unfortunately the Sydney 2′s finished just outside contention for a semi-final place.

Several of the Boys were also among the goalscorers including Sam Lackey (4), Eythan Rowling (3) and Alex Hopkins (1). Sutherland wishes to congratulate all the boys on their performance!

Burke, Noblett, and Walters selected in NSW U/21 team

Well Done to Nathan Bourke, Luke Noblett and Josh Walters on their recent selection in the NSW U/21′s state team for the U/21 Australian Championships to be held in Hobart in July this year.

All three are an integral part of the Sutho Men’s 1st Grade team and will be key players in the U/21 team.

Passing of Janice French

Our thoughts go out to the French family on the passing of Janice last week after a long battle with cancer. Janice was a beautiful woman of great faith.

Janice’s funeral will be held on Friday 4th May at 10.30am at St John’s Catherdral Parramatta and then a burial will take place at Rookwood Cemetery in the Anglican section at around 12 noon, followed by refreshments at the Catholic Condolence centre, Rookwood at 1pm.

It was Janice’s request that in lieu of flowers, a small donation can be made to a nominated charity. The White Lady funeral attendants will have envelopes at the church for people wishing to make a donation.

Minkey Hockey

Sutho’s popular Minkey Hockey program commences this Friday 27th April 2012 at 4:30pm at the club. Minkey provides younger players with a great introduction to hockey and they get to learn new skills and enjoy playing a game. Parents can still register their children for Minkey at the club on Friday and the cost is $70.00 for 1st child and $55.00 for any additional children.
